How to sell

Free Valuation for sale

We offer a free valuation service for any item brought into the salerooms. If you have a number of items or a full house of contents, please contact us and ask for one of our valuers to visit your home.
 
Reserve price
 
We are happy to agree a reserve price with vendors. The auctioneer has a 10% discretion on this figure unless a fixed reserve is agreed.
 
Payment
In most cases we pay clients within twenty eight days of the auction sale. With items of an individual value of less than 5,000, payment is made to the vendor whether the goods have been paid for by the purchaser or not.
 
Our commission rates are as follows:-

Antique and fine art sales                15% inclusive of vat.

General sales                                  20% inclusive of vat.

There is a minimum charge of 10 per lot for antique and fine art sales and 5 per lot for general sales.

There is a compulsary 5 illustration fee in antique sales (all lots are illustrated online), an additional 5 will be charged per lot illustrated in our catalogue. 

There are usually no charges for unsold lots with agreed reserves.
 
Withdrawal

In the event of a vendor withdrwing a lot within 7 working days of the auction into which the item or items have been entered, there will be a minimum withdrawal fee of 25 per lot or 10% of the reserve or lower auction estimate in the case of higher value goods.

Advertising

Regular advertisements are placed in national and local newspapers and magazines and antique and fine art sales are promoted in the Antiques Trade Gazette and on other "Antique" related websites.
